TRACK 1: Pre-K
Building Resiliency through Connection

Morning
 Early childhood providers can support resiliency by providing flexible and consistent learning environments that serve as a secure base for growth and learning. We will dive into strategies for tuning into children, identifying the root cause of challenging behavior and supporting resiliency.

Afternoon:
In an environment where children feel safe and are free to explore, they develop independence and self-control. Did you know that there are ways to set up classroom routines which will foster independence? Did you know that there are many fun games and activities that will actually promote the development of self-control?  Children with these skills are more successful in school and in life.  Join us to learn some easy ways to create an atmosphere of growth.

TRACK 2: Infant/Toddler

Learn how brain development, in the first three years of life, affects children’s development

 

  • Discuss how infants and toddlers gain knowledge

  • Discuss the areas of development in infants and toddlers, as defined by the VA Milestones

  • Define ages and stages of infant and toddler development

  • Identify characteristics of effective caregivers for infants and toddlers that promote resilience in infants and toddlers
